4.0 out of 5 stars Fine light-duty multi-function printer, March 19, 2009
This review is from: Brother MFC-7340 Flatbed Laser Multi-Function Center (Office Product)
Have had this Brother MFC-7340 for about a month. As with most printers, it took a little time and care to set up and install on the first Acer Vista laptop. No problems, just the usual tedious walkthrough. Putting the drivers on a second HP Vista laptop was a breeze. It sleeps (powered off) on a desk and the family members turn it on and plug in their laptops when they want to print or scan. It is compact, has as small a footprint as can be expected for a flatbed device. Easy to lift and shift about with good handgrips on the sides.

We are very low-volume print/scan/copy users - Google docs is eliminating a lot of printing for school. This printer is available quickly from a cold start, important for us once- or twice-a-weekers. We don't really even use the document feeder. A wireless network (and/or a duplex) printer might have been more convenient, but this guy was available for for less than $150 including a TN330 toner cartridge for the day the included... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Easy; It Works, October 20, 2009
This review is from: Brother MFC-7340 Flatbed Laser Multi-Function Center (Office Product)
Easy to set-up, easy to use. Using the XP scanner utility, it spans flawlessly. It prints as expected, seldom jams. It does all that can be expected of it.

We hardly beat it hard, so this review is for relatively mild use. I believe I could use much more and still be equally satisfied.

The toner that came with it has held up well, unlike some start toners that only print a few pages before running out. It looks like buying toner isn't a ripoff either.

This multifunction laser was bought on sale and was well worth the price. It prints and copies fast and the text output is great looking. The best thing about the unit is the auto document feeder. Whether copying, scanning, or faxing, it reads the document fast and output is similarly fast. It scans into the included ScanSoft Paperport, a very nice package with OCR, file, and imaging capability. I only use it for scanning reports which are saved as a PDF and you can select the default location. The fax is on the slower side but if you don't have high volume fax needs, it might not be a problem. The unit itself goes to sleep after 5 minutes and is noiseless. The output tray is adaquate and keeps paper from spilling on the floor. I have had no problem grabbbing 10 pages out of it. Printing envelopes or single sheets is a breeze after you adjust the slider. Paper tray holds 250 sheets, enough for the small office or home. Based on past experience I'm expecting the printer will be as... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy compact multifunction center, November 11, 2005

This review is from: Brother MFC-7220 Laser Multifunction Printer (Office Product)
I was looking for a high quality fax and stumbled upon Brother's 5 in 1 Laser Multifunction Center. This is a great piece of equipment for anyone to have, even if you are just looking for a good laser printer. The quality is great and it prints very fast. The fax can store up to 400 pages in its memory if you are out of paper, and the images, when faxed, are all scanned into the memory before the fax dials up the number. This makes for an easy, smooth fax that creates no problems.

I have yet to run into a jamming problem with the fax or the printer. The scanning capabilities are great as well, scanning the image exactly as it looks down to the detail, which some scanners are uncapable of doing. Of course it is a large file to copy so perfectly, but that can always be reduced to a more manageable size. The only downside to the scanning capabilities is that it is not a flat bed, so you won't be able to take noncomforming shapes, such as IDs and so on and scan them... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Check price of toner and drum before purchase, December 6, 2006
By
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Brother MFC-7220 Laser Multifunction Printer (Office Product)
As with all printers, it would be a good idea to check the price of consumables before purchasing this printer. This printer (actually this print engine, as it is used in several other Brother models) has a lower cost than some other Brother units, but you will make it up over the life of the printer as you buy higher-priced toner and drum units. The toner and drum units for this printer cost more than those for other Brother models, and don't last as long. Consider your printing needs and spend more upfront if you will be printing a lot.

As long as you expect this going into the purchase of this printer, it is a great unit. It works as advertised, and Brother has very good drivers under Mac OS X. For the money upfront, you can't beat it. For the future cost of consumables, you may be able to find a better model for your needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent multifunction machine, January 31, 2006
By
This review is from: Brother MFC-7220 Laser Multifunction Printer (Office Product)
I bought an MFC-7220 for my father who wanted to be able to screen incoming faxes on his computer before they were printed out and fax documents from his computer. This does both and more very well.

My impression of some of the features:

Build quality - very good.

Print quality - very good considering the price and variety of functions the machine has.

Ease of use - although the documentation wasn't the best (which seems to be common among Japanese multifunctions), it was relatively easy to set up and figure out how to do everything. Operation is simple. The software that runs the PC sending and receiving is very easy to understand and run.

Size - nice and compact, and controls aren't crowded.

This is the second Brother machine I've bought (the other was a simple laser printer) and I they seem to be really doing things right.

3.0 out of 5 stars You better be an IT expert!, February 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic KX-MB2061 Multi-Function Laser Printer and Communication Center (Office Product)
Our office has a new Savin multifunction copier, fax, scanner machine ... and I love it. The Panasonic sounded like it did a lot of the same functions. Especially the sending of document scans to a scan folder or email. It also sends faxes to a computer file or email. This saves having to print out every fax. It can also send verbal messages from it's answering device to the computer as an audio file making it so much easier to store messages. Frankly, it's a lot of machine for the money. NOW THE DOWN SIDE ... you'd better be a IT whiz if you intend to get any of these wonderful features to work. The PDF Instruction Manuel is 156 pages and the instructions bounce you back and forth constantly from one page to another page. All things considered, this is far too complicated for a person with novice or mid-range IT skills. I'm sure the instructions were very sensible to the person who designed the multi-funcion machine.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst product you can buy, November 27, 2011

This review is from: Panasonic KX-MB2061 Multi-Function Laser Printer and Communication Center (Office Product)
Ordered it because I liked the idea of having everything in one machine. WARNING: It's incredibly heavy and I had a hard time carrying the package upstairs (and I'm 5'6" and in good shape). WARNING: The instructions for assembly are a series of tiny and barely comprehensible diagrams. Then I realized that although I had plenty of USB cords, I didn't have the right cord ... WARNING: Buy a cord when you buy the machine. Then I downloaded the instructions. WARNING: The instructions are totally incomprehensible. Whoever wrote them did not have a clue about communicating with normal human beings. The machine is still not useable, and I've been working on setting it up for days. I'm fed up, and contemplating returning.

And to add insult to injury, it's heavy but it also seems really, really flimsy ... a design disaster all round ...

[Several weeks later] I've now been using this machine for a couple of months and still have difficulty with those wacky... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars First Impressions on the KX-MB2061 on a MAC, April 6, 2011

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
Hi everybody,

I will try to be brief but if I have to say what I think about this product in very few words, I would say I really like it so far!

I'm a MAC user so this review is from a Mac user perspective.

First of all, my printer came with no Mac drivers so i had to do some research and at the time of this review, drivers were not available at the product support page but anyway, you can find the drivers here:

[...]

There you can find not only the drivers but also the instructions for some MacOSX versions.

My first impressions:

This printer has lots of functions that i'm not really that interested "at this time" but plenty of other functions already used from the very first day I unpacked the printer.

Yes, you can Scan, Print and Fax from your Mac and you can Copy, Scan and print from the printer itself.

Decently easy to use, has very good resolution and I think the cost per page is... Read more
